Backbone removed from Will of the Emperor!

Will of the EmporerFollowing quickly on the defeat of Elegon, Deadwood continued its work in Mogu’Shan Vaults and took down the final Boss ‘Will of the Emporer’.  Again, some thanks are due to our friends Magusprime and Iceheart who helped us out for the evening.   We moved on to the first boss of the Heart of Fear and very nearly took down Imperial Vizier Zor’lok!  One more experience of the attenuation dance will probably be moving us to boss #2.

Grats Deadwood for moving on to dungeon 2!

Elegon Looted!

Elegon DefeatedOn March 17, 2013 a group of Deadwood adventurers took  down Elegon in Mogu’Shan Vaults.  Thanks  for the help from our friends Magusprime and Iceheart!  Up next – Will of the Emperor!

Gara’Jal the Spirit Binder is Toast!

Thanks to some add-on help from Foremnex and Aniese, We were able to master this fight in just one night!  Granted we took the entire 6 minutes of the enrage timer, but done is done and we are moving on to the next boss The Spirit Kings.  Just for giggles we did stick our noses in on the spirit kings with just our LFR knowledge to back us up.  We did quite well until we all got pinned to the floor by Rain of Arrows because we were all too close to each other!  Subbing in for the raid were Gangastaface and Lafe – thanks for you help guys!

Feng Takes a Dirt Nap!

Feng takes a dirt nap

On December 13, 2012, Deadwood took down Feng the Accursed, boss #2 in the Mogu’shan Vaults.  It was really only a matter of time once we finalized the strategy on the previous Sunday night.  We got some good time in on boss #3 (Gara’jal the Spirit binder before calling it a night.  We also knocked off the “Must Love Dogs” achievement on the Stone Guard fight just prior.  Congrats to all for the achievement, the loot and the progress!

Guardians of Mogu’Shan Vaults Defeated!

Well it took us a few weeks to get various elements of the strategy ironed out, but Deadwood has now completed the first step in the Pandaran Raid progression.  The combined efforts of 2 tanks, 3 healers, 2 melee dps and 3 range dps right to the very verge of the encounter timer was required.  Now each small gear improvement to each raid member will make the encounter that much easier as we continue to move further into the raid content.  Congrats to everyone in the raid, and congrats to Deadwood for the first of many milestones to come!

The Demise of Deathwing!

The Tenacious Ten

On Wednesday March 7, 2012, Deadwood completed (finally) the initial DragonSoul raid (10 Man) by taking down Deathwing.  Congrats to everyone that attended.  We’ll be working on the opening heroic encounters of the raid, but continuing to knock off Deathwing as a weekly occurrence so that all of the raiders will have a chance at his Bag o’ Loot, the “Destroyer’s End” title, and the achievement.  Our strategy on the final boss is green, blue, yellow, red – and the tipping point on the success is to have pretty solid DPS all the way through – we were able to use Heroism twice on our successful win.

All in all, cataclysm has been a pretty successful expansion.  The initial grind of leveling, faction gains and running heroics proved overwhelming for a lot of folks.  Later patches addressed this somewhat, and now 4.3 with it’s three fast heroics and successful implementation of ‘Looking for Raid’ have made gearing up a character much more reasonable.

For now, Deadwood will continue as a 10 man raid team, with confirmations about 24 hrs in advance of the scheduled runs.  Confirmations will be made for those who have accepted the runs – tentative gives the raid organizer some feeling for the possibility of raiders that may be able to fill in, but in fairness to the raiders who have accepted the run, tentative raiders will not be confirmed and will be added to the raid on an ‘as needed’ basis at raid time.

Can’t wait to get some heroic kills under our belt!

Making Progress!

Atremedes takes a dive!

Crazy battle of buffs and debuffs!

Deadwood has been moving right along in the last two weeks, taking down both Atremedes and the Ascendant Council in Blackwing Descent and Bastion of Twilight respectively.  We are now working on the final bosses of each of the raids.  To give us some extra time, we are now scheduling a follow-up 2 hour raid for Blackwing Descent and Bastion of Twilight, to focus exclusively on the final bosses of the raid.  Hopefully, this will give us the extra time needed to down the boss without burning anyone out from over exposure to a particular fight.  Congrats Deadwood and keep on trucking!

Another Boss Defeated in Blackwing Descent

Just a quick note to say that Deadwood has made another step forward in the Blackwing Descent raid.  On Friday April 30th, a Deadwood team took down Chimaera in an Epic Battle, with intense healing organization for the WIN!  Although we are still recovering from the after-effects of the 4.1 patch, the new troll gear from ZA and ZG should top up raider gear sets quickly, and more bosses are expected to fall soon!  Next stop – Atremedes!

Grats on the guild first all!  4/6 in Blackwing Descent.

Maloriak beaten by chemistry

On Friday March 25th, Deadwood moved forward again in Cataclysm content, taking down the challenging Maloriak.  This fight requires very tight control over the adds released, the timing of their release, as well as choreographed raid movement to move in or spread out as Moloriak works his chemistry magic (not to mention excellent raid healing all around by brocolli druids and shaman alike).  Congrats to all!

Deadwood is now 3 of 6 in Blackwing Descent, start researching to be ready for the next fights!!!

Blackwing Descent Success!

Magmaw gets Spiked

Omnitron Defense System cracked!

On Friday Feb 11, 2011, a Deadwood team successfully took down not one but TWO bosses in Blackwing Descent.  First up, Magmaw’s larvae minions and his tank killing chomp were addressed and nullified in Deadwood’s first victory in Blackwing Descent.  It is critical to have sufficient range Area Effect damage and slows to manage the adds, and the Magmaw riders must target the spike in unison to bring down Magmaw quickly.  (oh yeah, don’t stand in the bad hehe).  Following Magmaw’s defeat, the team ventured into a confrontation with the Omnitron Defense system.  There are many different abilities to learn and react to from the four bosses, but with good movement they can be mastered.  Good work Deadwood raiders and congrats on the guild first!
